Maniot Militia

The light infantry depicting soldiers from the region of Mani And Roumeli in 1837.

The uniform of the officers and infantry of the Greek Army were
designed from the traditional Greek Military uniform. The Fesi was
manufactured from red tsoha with a gold stitched emblem. The
Maniots wore a red Geleko which included a collar
above the Fermeli with the troops from Roumeli wearing a Blue one.
The intricate designs of the Fermeli were black with gold buttons
for the Soldiers from Mani and silver plated for the soldiers from
Roumeli. The rank of each soldier was depicted by horizontal parallel
stripes attached to the collar according to the Bavarian system. The
Color of the stripe for the Maniates was gold with silver for the troops
from Roumeli.

The emblem consists of laurel wreaths in the shape of a heart with the
point upwards and the Symbol of the monarchy in the centre.
The emblem of the soldiers from Roumeli was the same however with
silver stiching.
